Koh Jaan Island actually consists of two islands, Koh Jaan (the larger one) and Koh Tai See (the smaller one). Between the islands there’s a lagoon with a white sandy beach (100 meters long) that is a good place for snorkeling, diving and swimming. The islands are situated approximately 6 kilometers offshore and take about 20 minutes to reach by boat from Huay Yang village. In general, the best time for snorkeling and diving in Thailand is during November-April (dry season) when the water is clearer. During the rainy season (May-October) you can expect similar temperatures as during dry season but rough sea conditions can occur.
Koh Jaan Island is located in Hat Wanakorn National Park in Tab Sakae district of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The National Park is situated right beside NishaVille and was opened under royal direc¬tive on 30 December 1992. It became the 76th national park and the 18th marine national park of Thailand. The coastal park stretches from the mountains of Tennessarim to the gulf of Thai¬land. The terrestrial section (about 60% of total area, 22.6 km2) is dominated by beach forest and plantations, comprising mainly of Bamboo, Eucalyptus, Mikey Tree, Yang Na and Oramosia. There are some trees which were replanted like the Myrtle and Lagerstroemia. There are 61 types of wild animals that inhabit the park. There are 48 types of birds and the remaining species include Jungle Fowl, Squirrel, Tree Shrew, Lepus Pequensis, Skink, Canis Aureus, Snake, Porcupine and more. Higher up in the mountains, wild Elephants live in the prosperous forests. The park is a good place for nature walks, the trails are easy to follow and it’s very difficult to get lost. The trails vary from 2-6 kilometers long. Several picturesque viewpoints give you panoramic views across the bay and out to the island.
The Marine Park covers an area of 38 square kilometers and has the record of being one of the smallest marine parks in Thailand. The marine section (about 40% of total area) is composed of a sandy beach and the deeper water surrounding the two islands. Here you can find organisms such as Shrimp, Fish, Coral, Turtle and also some types of Dolphins. The maximum depth recorded is about 16 meters but the average depth is less than 5 meters. These waters have a sandy soft bottom and shallow water communities with small patches of coral. The National Park offers boat trips to the island at a cost.
The park headquarters are situated at the entrance of the National Park where you can find a restaurant, bathroom and exhibition centre. Accommodation facilities housing 4-12 persons per cottage are available and located directly on the beach.

It is overall an easy path to follow and does not require any certain level of physical fitness or skill. After walking approximately 10 minutes in the pine scented beauty of a lush evergreen forest, the first of the five levels of the waterfall appears. Continuously, while walking through the different levels, there are opportunities to take magnificent pictures. You may also want to go for a swim in some of the many ponds of the waterfall.
The National Park also offers Kha On Waterfall about 60 kilometers south from the headquarters and the 5 levels Huai Hin Dat Waterfall 50 kilometers south of the headquarters.
The beauty of the waterfall is dependent on the time of year and amount of water. So be sure to check with one of the Nishaville staff before embarking on your waterfall adventure.

If you enjoy a great social event with lots of people watching, snacking, shopping for handmade items, jewelry, music, clothes and other novelties; and like to do that in a charming and lively atmosphere by the ocean, then the Prachuap Khiri Khan Walking Street and Night Bazaar is for you. Stroll along this walking street next to the beach and down to the end of the pier to check out the fishing boats and squid fishing boats with their glowing green lights getting ready for their nights work, play with your children in the park, snack on made to order local favorites. If you’re a morning person, stop by early and purchase a freshly caught favorite to have our Chef prepare for your dinner.
LOCAL DINING
After you’ve whet your appetite by snacking on fun food at the market, watching the fishing boats, and taking in some of the ocean breeze, follow frontage road just a few minutes further to some of the fun local outdoor eateries. Chock full of atmosphere, with views of the ocean and the fishing boats, the sound of the ocean lapping at the shore, and fun Thai décor; these family style restaurants serve the freshest seafood imaginable. One of our favorites is Ta-Mong-Lai at the very end of the frontage road. Sit in one of the bamboo thatched roofed booths, or under the stars at a table. Bring some crisp white wine or order a well chilled beer to enjoy with your raw oysters served with fried shallots, garlic, fresh lime juice and fresh chili sauce. Or feast on Thai style raw shrimp with bitter melon and assorted sauces. Try the perfectly steamed whole fish with Thai herbs, or the small crispy fried fish. Order the sautéed squid here and you might get lucky enough to find yourself enjoying the delicacy of tender squid eggs as well!

Mirror (Hole) Mountain (Khao Chong Kra-Jok), in the middle of Prachuap Khiri Khan City, is named after the hole through the side of the mountain in which you can see the sky. Be prepared to be awed by the beautiful view of Ao Prachuap Bay and be sure to access the tunnel where the sunlight penetrates and it feels like the sky has come down to earth. It is also known as the monkey mountain due to the large number of monkeys that live here. Mostly, the monkeys hang around in the fountain with the large monkey statue at the foot of the mountain (Ling Krajon Waterfall). Enjoy watching them spend their day playing and swimming in the water and fruit are available to buy if you want to feed the monkeys. While walking up the 396 steps up on the mountain in order to reach the temple “Wat Thammikaram” you will also see many monkeys on your way. This monastery has a Buddha foot print, Buddha relics and was built by King Rama VI (1881-1925). After reaching the top of the mountain an incredible view awaits you as you walk around the temple. Watch over the city, forests, Prachuap Bay, islands and horizon with a 360 degrees panoramic view. In Prachuap Khiri Khan City you can also see the Khmer inspired “City Pillar of Prachuap Khiri Khan” where many Thais come to pay respect.

AKhao Sam Roi Yot National Park can be translated into “The Mountain with Three Hundred Peaks” due to the series of magnificent limestone mountain ranges that rise from the Gulf of Thailand. The maximum height is 605 meters. With an area of 98 square meters the National Park was declared as the first coastal park in Thailand on June 28th, 1966. It offers the visitors a wide range of attractions including the sea with fine sandy beaches, spectacular caves, mountain viewpoints, islands, forest trails for hiking, boat excursions, freshwater ponds, marsh lands and mangrove forests.
Wildlife is rich, diverse and inhabits species such as Dusky Langur, Crab-eating Macaque, Common Slow Lorries, Common Muntjac, Sunda Pangolin, Fishing Cat, Common Palm Civet, Malayan Porcupine, Barking Deers, Javan Mongoose, Siamese Hare, Grey-bellied Squirrel and Dolphins. Bird watching is popular and the National Park has recorded approximately 300 species. Migratory visiting birds account for half of all the listed species due to the fact that the park is located on the East Asian/Australian Flyway. The park is reportedly one of the best locations in Thailand to observe shorebirds. Between September and November hundreds of migratory shorebirds from Siberia, China, and Northern Europe arrive at the mudflats to feed and rest, before continuing their southern journey. Some will spend the winter months (November to March) here. These birds will begin the long return journey to their northern breeding grounds between March and May. Persons interested in birds can pick-up a "Check List and Guide to Bird Finding" available for a small fee, from the Visitors' Center at the headquarters.
Mount Khao Daeng viewpoint is situated between the headquarters and the village of Khao Daeng. Walk 400 meters on asphalt from the headquarters and then a steep trail of 320 meters to get to the top of the mountain at an elevation of 157 meters. It’s in total about 30 minutes walk but the breathtaking view upon reaching the viewpoint is all worth the effort. Morning at sunrise is said to be the best time to get a clear view.
Laem Sala Beach is a beautiful cape surrounded by limestone hills and accessible from either by land or water. A 30 minutes ride with boat can be hired from Bang Pu village. You can also reach the beach by taking a steep, but well constructed trail, starting near the seashore about 200 m. from the village's temple. The 20 minute walk provides splendid view of the sea with its islands. On the beach you will find a restaurant, bungalows, a camping area, a small visitor centre, picnic shelters and washrooms.
A popular destination is Phraya Nakhon Cave which is reachable from Laem Sala Beach by a 30 minutes climb on a steep rocky trail of 430 meters. The cave was named from Phraya Nakhon, a former ruler who discovered it over 200 years ago after being forced ashore by a violent storm. The most popular attraction in the cave is the Thai style pavilion constructed for the visit of King Rama V on June 20, 1890. This pavilion is now used as the symbol of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The cave is actually two large sinkholes where the roofs have collapsed, creating a big hole in the ceiling. Sunlight and rain can therefore reach the floor allowing the growth of different kind of plants. The pavilion has since 1890 been visited by King Rama VII and King Rama IX (the present king of Thailand).
Kaeo Cave is a cave filled with beautiful translucent stalactites, stalagmites and glittering formations as a result of calcite crystal deposits from the mineral laden water droplets. Walking in this cave is rather hard. Guide leaders and flashlights are required and there’s a 2 hour tour available.
Sai Cave is situated near the fishing village of Khung Tanot. Tourists are able to park their cars at the base of the beachfront hill and walk up 280 meters, taking approximately 30 minutes. The cave offers striking stalactites and stalagmites and flashlights can be rented for exploring the rather dark Sai Cave.
A popular activity for visitors is to rent a boat in Khao Daeng village for a 1-2 hours cruise along the Khao Daeng Canal. This is a pleasant way of exploring the environment and a great opportunity to spot birds.
The Aquatic Flora Education Center and The Lotus Swamp (approximately 500 rai) in the freshwater marshland of the National Park. There are nature trails around the in the form of long wooden logs that go around the Lotus Swamp and stretch out towards the center. Here you can view flocks of water birds and fish as well as the Nelumbo Nucifera Lotus. You may also choose to take a non motorized ‘punt’ which are environmentally friendly and reduce noise pollution as well. April is the best time to visit as that’s when the Lotus are in full view.

This picturesque and beautifully curved bay is located a couple of kilometers south of Prachuap Khiri Khan City and can easily be reached by taxi or minibus. Ao Manao means “Lime bay” and is under the care of the Royal Thai Air force which also has a military base camp within the surroundings. This bay was once a battlefield between the Thai and Japanese armies during the Second World War in 1941. The sandy white beach here is excellent and the water is clear, calm and warm making it is easy for swimming, also for small kids. The serene beach offers sun umbrellas (some of them in military camouflage paints) as well as deck chairs and tires to go into the water. Part of the beach has souvenir stalls but the greater part is tranquil and largely untouched by commercialism. Food and drinks are served on the beach. There are motorized and non-motorized water sports available and the beach is nice and cleaned.
Ao Manao Bay is a historic site from WWII, so the beach is cleaned by cadets who help to preserve its natural beauty.

Darn Singkhon is the checkpoint to Myanmar, although foreigners are not allowed to cross at this border. It is situated on the narrowest part of Thailand with only 12 km from the Thai seashore to the Myanmar border. People from Myanmar are allowed to travel into Thailand during the day to a market located just over the border. Here you can find cheap craftworks, furniture made of teak, jewelry, porcelain, some which has been imported from China through Myanmar, lots of flowers and plants, food, clothes and other things. Since the market consists of mostly Myanmar people the common Thai phrases may not be so much in use, so pointing and calculators are the best way to get around here.
